About this Collection
Thank you for your support for the Christmas tree collection in aid of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Chester.
From the 11th - 14th January, the wonderful volunteers collected and recycled more than 1,270 real Christmas trees which has raised a tree-mendous £14,364.52 (after costs and including Gift Aid) for the Hospice.
This would not be possible without the support of an army of volunteers and vans kindly given for free from the local community. Of the total raised, £12,928.07 will go to the hospice and £1,436.45 will go to The Ellesmere Port Lions.
For further information or if you would like to get involved with the Christmas tree collection please contact Justin Caroe on tel: 01244 851 811 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
About the Hospice
Here at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd we believe in the ethos of Dame Cicely Saunders
“You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die”
We believe that everyone deserves the best quality of life and the best quality end of life care., and the earlier we are involved in this care the better. We deliver our care free of charge, for the communities of Cheshire West, Chester, Ellesmere Port and Deeside.
Our dedicated team of staff and healthcare professionals aim to meet the unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of those with a life-limiting illness, and to help maintain their dignity. We provide specialist palliative care for people with cancer and non-cancer life-limiting illnesses, at all stages of their illness.
We’re not just focused on our patients either. We recognise that it’s also a difficult time for relatives, carers and friends and we provide support for them too.
Our care and support is provided totally free of charge at the point of delivery. To fund this vital care we rely on the generosity of our local communities to continue the crucial work of the Hospice. Less than a third of our £4 million annual running costs come from government funding, the remainder has to be found through fundraising, donations, events and corporate partnerships.
