Farleigh Hospice, Chelmsford

About this Collection

Farleigh Hospice would like to thank everyone who supported this year’s Christmas Tree Recycling. Over 2,800 trees were collected from across mid Essex, raising a staggering £26,527.48.

However none of this would have been possible without the help of local businesses and our fantastic volunteers who gave up their time on the weekend of Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th collecting, chipping and processing the trees. The chippings from the recycled trees will be used as a source of renewable energy and as path material in the community's local parks.

The hospice received 90% of the monies raised, a total of £23,874.73 and they also donated 10%, £2,652.75 to local charities Chelmsford Community Transport and Sanctus.

Chelmsford Community Transport provides door-to-door transport by car or minibus helping those who are unable to use public transport because of age, physical or mental disability or rural exclusion. They have a team of volunteers who drive their own cars, plus seven mini-buses equipped with wheelchair lifts.

Sanctus is a small but vital charity established in the bitter winter of 2011. Sanctus feeds the growing number of homeless, hungry and vulnerable individuals. They run a free café offering breakfast, hot and cold drinks, snacks and a cooked homemade lunch. They are also able to help by offering accommodation, as well as 1:1 support/advice, and a range of enrichment activities including training, a Book Club, Music Club and Allotment Project.

Supporters, sponsors and the fantastic volunteers include:

...... and a huge thank you to each and everyone of them.

About the Hospice

For over three decades, Farleigh Hospice has been providing hospice care and support for anyone affected by a life-limiting illness within the mid-Essex community. We are experts in hospice care and can help people to live as actively as possible from the point of diagnosis to the end of their lives.

How we help

We help patients to live as actively as possible from the point of diagnosis to the end of their life, by providing physical and emotional care, free of charge.

We provide a range of services tailored to meet an individual’s needs including support, information, and guidance on symptom and pain control. Approximately 80% of our care takes place within the community and in patients’ home environments, with our Inpatient Unit providing 24/7 respite stays and end of life care when requested.
