- £11 could pay for our online community to be run for an hour, providing information and peer support for those who have lost a loved one.
- £13 could pay for a patient’s meals for a day, including breakfast, lunch & dinner
- £19 could pay for one hour of our expert care, helping people to live the best life they possibly can
- £23 could pay for a patient’s disposable medical supplies and equipment for a day, such as syringes and dressings
- £60 could provide one session of bereavement counselling for someone struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one
- £140 could pay for a hospice nurse for a day
Having trialled a similar initiative last year, we are excited to be working with JustHelping this year to grow our collection service. With the help of a number of hospice and corporate supporters and volunteers we will be out in force in areas of Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury to collect and recycle real Christmas Trees, direct from the door of our registrants.
We are extremely grateful to all those who will be helping us with our tree-cycling in January, whether that be driving a collection vehicle, collecting the trees or helping with the “big chip-up” after the collection.
90% of the funds raised will go directly to Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice and the work that we do throughout the county of Gloucestershire. Other local causes will also benefit from the initiative, receiving 10% of those funds.

About the Hospice
Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice is Gloucestershire’s only inpatient unit for specialist palliative care. We also care for people in their own homes and on a day basis within our Day Hospice. Our doctors, Sue Ryder Nurses and carers all work together to give expert and compassionate care to those living with life-limiting illnesses. They are very experienced in tailoring the most appropriate care, enabling our patients (aged 18 and over) to live the best life they possibly can.
As you can see, from the below images, Leckhampton Court provides a wonderful home for the work that we do. We are based on the edge of Cheltenham, in the foot of the Cotswold hills – as well as offering a homely environment within the hospice, we have beautiful grounds, looked after by our growing team of volunteer gardeners, for our patients, visitors, staff and volunteers to enjoy.
We combine specialist medical care with other emotional, practical and spiritual support for our patients and their families, by offering the following services: inpatient care, day services, Hospice at Home care, family and bereavement support, rehabilitation, complementary therapies, spiritual care and befriending. Our vision, here at Sue Ryder, is to provide more care for more people, when it really matters. We see a future where our palliative care reaches more communities; where we can help more people begin to cope with bereavement; and where everyone can access the quality of care they deserve.
The services we offer, here at Leckhampton Court Hospice as well as throughout the county of Gloucestershire, are free to all users; however it costs us £2.3 million a year to be able to continue to provide all of them. By supporting our Christmas Tree collection you will be making a vital contribution to that.
