Two Lions Clubs have combined to raise funds for St. Leonards Hospice in York and Martin House Hospice Care for children and young people in Boston Spa.
Pocklington District Lions Club will be collecting and disposing of real Christmas trees in postcodes YO42, YO43 3 & YO41 5. Their colleagues at Derwent Lions are also participating in this event and their postcodes are: YO41 4, YO41 1 & YO19 5.
Members of the community in these postcodes can simply go on line to register their tree, make a donation of any amount they wish, or can afford and, as if by magic!, Lions will collect their tree for recycling helped by our generous supporters Langlands Garden Centres, Harrison Tree Care & Hunters Estate Agents.
Not only does this benefit the two Hospices directly but it is also good environmentally and takes away from the householder the need to dispose of their tree on or after Twelfth Night. Trees need to be registered by New Year’s Day January 2018 and Lions Clubs will then collect trees on Saturday 6th and 7th January from the householder’s address.
They hope the community will be as generous as possible and support this project. It is worth adding that the charitable support organisation behind this initiative, JustHelping, are rolling the idea out nationally, so if you are outside the YO postcode zone it is worth checking to see if the project has been rolled out in your area?
Seasonal greetings and best wishes from St Leonards Hospice, Martin House Hospice and Lions Clubs International
